A year ago in the creative life of NK in the literal sense began a new era – with the suspension of the project “Potap and Nastya” the singer confidently went to solo career under the pseudonym NK.

It’s time for bold experiments. To replace the “classic” curls came thick tresses, the images became frank, and the songs appeared more modern sound. The girl “from the next yard” grew up – and became a real lady.

The singer told not only about the beginning of a solo career and further relations with Potap. NK shared plans for the future and vital life hacks, she talked about her detractors and social networks, frankly explained what it meant for her to be a patriot.

NK, we cannot but touch upon the “top-theme” – your cardinal transformation over the last year, especially in the creative plan. From the rebellious girl you turned into a woman of the world.  In late 2017, announced the beginning of a solo career under the stage name NK. Tell us how you came to this decision? Was it just your choice or a certain “team work” over a new project?

We put the duo on a pause, because we wanted to try something new and put into life ideas and projects that were previously lacking in time. I’m now focused on my solo project NK. Potap has the opportunity to devote more time to the MOZGI group. My new image completely reflects NK as who she is today.

What role did Potap play in this project?

Of course, he supported. But in general, we are two independent artists who continue to maintain excellent relations, while each chose development in their project.

And who is now engaged in your production as a solo artist? Are you a part of “MOZGI Production ” family? 



No, I don’t work with MOZGI Entertainment. I’m doing my project with my #nkteam.

Once you admitted that you are worried about going on a stage. And, of course, in this situation Potap was your support and reliance. And how are you managing the pressure and excitement of a solo career?

I’ll probably still be anxious before I sing on a stage for another 10 years. The entrance to the stage is always like a parachute jump. And I think that for example, professional paratroopers, no matter how they jump, always experience something like that.   It is like a drug. After all, the most important thing is that when you step on the stage, you feel the support of the audience and all the excitement recedes. Also I have a huge experience, so it’s rather pleasant adrenaline, before the important moment – a meeting with the audience.

Transformations have also affected your appearance. You have changed the hairstyle, style of clothes, “spirit” of new music clips. On your Instagram – page, fans often note that you have become such a “Spanish senjorita” – with a bronze tan, temperamental, passionate. How close is this comparison to you, or is it just a coincidence? Why did you choose such a image for yourself?

I spent many years in Italy (edited –  7 years), I literally grew up there and, I can say, absorbed that atmosphere. I am close to this impulsiveness, brilliance, passion – it manifests itself in character, and it reflects in my image. Therefore, yes, I am like a Spanish-Italian woman-senjorita ( smiling ).

Comparing life in Italy and Ukraine, which country do you prefer more?

As I said, I am close to the Italian atmosphere and mentality, with all its emotionality and liveliness. By the way, they like to compare Ukrainian with Italian according to euphony. I even translated my song “Tyha nich ” into Italian for my Christmas album.

I like Ukraine, because I was born in Kiev, I feel a special connection here. I believe that a modern person is open-minded, finds in each mentality something close, inspiring. At least I like to find something different in the national identities of different countries, I’m a cosmopolitan.

If there was an opportunity, would you like to repeat your experience to live in another country for a while?

I’m interested in discovering Latin America. And not as a classic tourist, and plunge into the local culture, imbued with a local view of life. There is something special about it. To make it easier, I’m learning Spanish right now.

Can you call yourself a patriot of your country? What is patriotism for you?

For me, patriotism is to love your country and your people, and with love for them to go through your business, through your destiny to be useful to them. Everyone does their job, I see my music as a reflection of the country. My songs have been listening to in different countries for 12 years, and everyone who knows that NK from Kiev will learn a little more about Ukraine.

It is also important to support the economy of the country, to develop business in our country, I am proud that my NKsport is a brand of Ukrainian production, its employees   – Ukrainians, we give jobs to our citizens, we provide an opportunity for development and fashion industry, and also support the healthy lifestyle and the sporting spirit of Ukrainians. And it’s very nice that from many other countries we are being asked to do the delivery, because they want to get the sports form of NKsport, because it is affordable, high-quality, stylish, with meaning and soul.

Another distinguishing feature of your new image is the level of honesty and transparency of your character, as clearly depicted in the new music video for the song “ Trymai “. Maybe earlier they did not notice for themselves, but it seems that NK has never been so honest. What are the reasons for such changes? Have you begun to “feel your sexuality” in a new way?

A person can not be the same for the whole life, he changes: external development, by character, by feeling himself. In the new album, I show myself what I am now, at the moment. And our new duet with Liubov Uspenskaya: about the great feeling of love, about how important it is to remember the meaningful dates and make your loved ones happy.

Celebrities like yourself cannot do without haters who rush in to write something unpleasant about every personal photo. What’s interesting to know is if you actually read these comments and react to them.

I usually read. If I ask some fans a question and it’s important for me to hear their opinion. For example, about the new collections of NKsport, I like to make new models according to their requests, for example. But if I see non-constructive criticism, I do not read it.

Once, I’ve heard the phrase that if Leo Tolstoy had read the comments under his novels, then “War and Peace” wouldn’t have been written. I understand that people who write negative comments simply have nothing to do. This is not a constructive criticism. They pour dissatisfaction about themselves in the society. I just don’t want to spend my precious time on this. I have many important things to do. I can give them just one advise: it is better to go and do something useful.

After you managed to lose more than 20 kg, it seems that no interview goes without mentioning this topic. At the same time, you mentioned that it is easy for you to put on weight and it is quite difficult to maintain yourself in the desired form. How do you cope with this problem? How do you motivate yourself to have balanced diet, exercise every day?

The most important thing in this business, as in any other, is to clearly see the goal and realize that you are moving towards it every day. I’m an ordinary girl, and I also let myself have weaknesses sometimes, but I understand that weakness today will mean a double effort tomorrow. The main thing is that I have an inspiring goal. And my experience, my inspiration, I tried to pass on, creating a brand of sportswear NKsport, to share my motivation with others.

What is your meal schedule for the day? What products have been abandoned at all and what is now firmly in your diet?

I eat according to the plan developed by the coach, taking into account my lifestyle, and the body. My diet is usually an oatmeal for breakfast, egg, white or red grilled fish, turkey or chicken. I eat a lot of vegetables, always fresh. I had to forget not about some products, but from their unhealthy use.

Share the recipe of your favorite dish.

Oh, it’s a very simple recipe. A glass of buckwheat, two glasses of water and salt to taste ( laughs ).

Now it’s summer, then I’ll share the recipe for summer salad – very simple and one of the most loved. Take the cucumbers, rukkola and pepper, season with soy sauce and olive oil.

Could you remember what exactly served as a powerful impetus for you a couple of years ago, that made you decide to take on the task yourself? Is it love, creativity, or some inner rethinking?

I did not have any special Newton apple. Simply, apparently, ripe by the time to rethink myself, to want dramatic changes in life.

How did the physical transformation affect you in general, as well as your creativity?

Transformation, probably, once again showed that almost any goal is achievable. But if we talk about how this affected creativity, then perhaps there were no dramatic influences. I was always positive, I created such music that raises the mood, drives.

Your fans were incredibly grateful for the song in Ukrainian – “Trymai“? When shall we expect another Ukrainian-language song?

I do not know yet. Talking about languages, I know five, now I’m learning Spanish. So in this prospect I have even more to surprise the listeners. In what language will be the next hit, I do not know yet, but I think that this will be a pleasant surprise for me and for fans.

So who is your new song dedicated to? Who should hold your hand and never let go?

Beloved person, of course ( smiles ).

You no longer deny that you are engaged. And the fans are only building guesses, who is your chosen one. Sometimes, rumors reach the point of absurdity. Don’t you want to finally put an end to this and tell the truth?

Happiness loves silence. It’s hard to remain a public person and leave behind your personal life, but it’s easier for me.

What kind of wedding do you dream of – lush, with a change of dresses, or still quiet, on some tropical island, for example, without prying eyes?

This is my personal, I don’t want to discuss this with anyone. There is still too much things to show now, in the era of social networks. Please respect my personal space. And I advise everyone to leave at least a small, but a piece of warmth for you and your loved one.

I still wonder why it’s more important for some people to take the time to make a photo for a network, write a post and publish it, rather than spend these minutes on a warm kiss or a heartfelt talk. Time is inexorably flying fast. It can fly by –  and you will not notice.

What is most important in your life?

Love. Not only between a man and a woman, but also as the driving force for everything – a love for music, a love for life, for nature, for parents. It helps to move, improve.

By the way, how important is social activity in your life now?

I have recently joined the charity project “Zhizneliub”. We collected a huge amount of warm clothes for the elderly in collaboration with the shop “Laska”. We also collected money to open a house for “Lunch without trouble” – here elderly people who need help can have free lunch. We even exceeded our plan. Were planning to open one house – but opened two! I am literally inspired by the opportunity to do such good things, to help people. I plan to do this and continue to give my things to  charitable auctions, so that the money that was raised went to help those who need it. So watch out for my social networks.

Could it be that we will see you in politics in the nearest future?

Everyone should do what they could do best. I found my profession, I’m an artist, therefore I don’t intend to change my career in favor of the political one.

From the side it may seem that you have already accomplished everything you could dream about: you developed your talent, set the bar high, created your brand. What other goals do you set for yourself, what do you dream about?

In fact, I want to continue to do my favorite things – creativity, make people happy, sing my songs, shows. It’s the opportunity to be important, to help those in need- my main motivation, which inspires at every turn.

Many fans are looking forward to your solo live show, presentation of the album. When are you going to please the fans?

The presentation will be in September, and a new clip too. From some very fresh novelties – a duet with Liubov Uspenskaya. To sing with such a legendary woman as she is a great honor, pride and joy. Also, listeners who were at the festivals “Zhara” in Baku and Atlas Weekend, could be the first to hear my new song “LOMALA”, and by mid-August I’m preparing its official release. Also, for my touring schedule, you can follow me on social networks. 



What other surprises are you preparing this year?

My surprises are not only on stage, we are now preparing a new collection of sportswear from NKsport. The previous ones were swept away like hot pies, we’re doing our best to succeed in it again.

Also this year will be my first solo album – I’m really looking forward to it. Well, in general, till the end of the year there will be a lot of new and interesting, let it be an intrigue.
